AYNSLEY:
So, we're discounting the bronchitis and pleurisy theories and going with a diagnosis of pleural effusion: excess fluid in the lungs. The plan is for Mom to stay on constant oxygen and antibiotics and hope to drain the fluid in the middle of next week. Yesterday, Mom seemed wary of more interventions but our wonderful nurse practitioner, who was out on maternity leave, is back now and discussed everything with my parents. I'm not sure what the conversation was with her today, but Mom seems less resistant now to having the fluid drained.

My parents are currently enjoying a Shabbat dinner of pizza and lots of friends-Mom sounds great.
